Doug Stockdale's Singular Images

Slow start for my SoFoBoMo

Filed under: Books, Photography, Projects/Series, SoFoBoMo — Doug Stockdale @ 12:11 am

Not sure what was worse, the weather turning overcast and gray or busting a tooth and heading to the denist for a quicky repair.

What I pre-visualized for my SoFoBoMo series is not in line with this change in weather. Getting a pre-June Gloom that Southern California gets hit with next month at this time of year was not in my plans. I have one roll processed and two in the soup form the sunny days, but now this change of weather. hmmmm.

And one of my planned photography days will be spent getting a new crown. So that experienced might get reflected in my photographs to some degree. I know that looking forward to the two hours in the “chair’ is not an uplifting or helping my current frame of mind.

Oh well…I do have on order my printing of the softbound proof for In Passing.

Best regards, Doug

Updated note: Blurb has notified me that my book proof is in the mail, concurrently with a notification that their pricing is going up for this size book. So now I have to confirm the book layout and design and rethink my pricing strategy. Meanwhile, it appears that I have two sets of good images for SoFoBoMo and one potential set. So that makes it four down and at least thirty-one more to go.

  1. This certainly has been your year for getting banged up, hasn’t it? I know a trip to the dentist certainly knocks out any creative urges I have. I hope it goes better than you are expecting. In the meantime, I look forward to hearing your response to the proof for “In Passing” and hope you get some sunshine soon.

  2. Yes, the ups and downs of getting old – yuk, yuk.

So with overcast days, I will now photograph overcast urban landscapes. I’m going to check out another location this afternoon and think about a different series. But, since I have alreday started this one, I will now finish it after SoFoBoMo, probably in August with sunnier days;- )

  3. Must be a real downer living in Southern California and not have sun. Well, I live in Norway and counted on dark evenings in May … duh.

Well, I know all about changing the project on short notice. Good luck with both the project and the dentist.

  4. We get sun so often and regular, you just assume it will be there and after 25 years, I should have realized that the June-gloom does at times come early. So given lemons, I am going to make lemon-aid and add some ‘atmospheric’ images to the book;- )

I hope yours is going well…
