With my sister in town, we took the day off to head down to Laguan Beach for the Festival of the Arts and the Sawdust Festival. These are two large scale art show that occurs for two months every Summer in Laguan Beach (California). The Festival of the Arts is a juried to show to exhibit, the other is more of a art & craft and you need to pay for your booth. The quality of the work is very different between the two. There were about 12 photographers exhibiting in the Festival of the Arts, and most were very really nicely framed and interesting artwork, mostly Black and White images, and of those, mostly the West coast landscape variety.
The two art exhibits are on opposite sides of Laguna Canyon Road, so we had a short walk between them, which is where I passed this abondoned parking lot. There was something anti-“art festival” about this scene that I felt compeled to photograph. It Also has an anit-“Laguna Beach” feel about it as well. This is an image that was NOT going to be in either exhibits, but it is more of a slice of reality that really exits as well.
Best regards, Doug
